While this article is well written perhaps the point that needs to be raised is that it was indeed just a movie. It never ( At least here in South Africa and most other African countries) was the goal but rather a step in the correct direction, in fact many of us here laughed at what was meant to be Xhosa spoken in the movies, but at least it was spoken in the first place. Furthermore the concluding statement that Western countries are successful due to their “colour-blindness” ( in particular in the military) may be true IN THE WEST however can not apply in large parts of Africa and other developing countries in which people for hundreds of years were oppressed due to colour. Wakanda is not the ideal, however it is hope that we as Africans are finally getting some recognition for what we can do.
